BFF Tournaments Info

The BFF tournaments begin on
October 1 and end May 31.

All entries are automatically included in the monthly drawing for a fly shop gift card. Drawings take place at monthly meetings.

BFF Tournament Governing Principles…

🎣 The tournaments are open to all current BFF members.

🎣 All fish must be caught in Florida, salt or fresh water, between October 1 & May 31.

🎣 Any fish caught on a fly using fly fishing gear anywhere in Florida can be submitted to the Monthly Any Fish Tournament. Entries caught during the month should be submitted during the month when caught with a couple of days lea-way for end of the month catches. Snook, Redfish and Tarpon entered in the Monthly Tournament are automatically entered in the Season-long Gamefish Tournament. Entries for Gamefish entered after the month when caught will count in the Season-long Gamefish Tournament but not for the monthly Tournament.

🎣 All entries must be accompanied by a picture of the fish showing as much of the fish as possible and preferably with you in it. No picture of the fish, no entry*.

* Exceptions to the picture rule can be made in the event of an angler catching a difficult or dangerous fish to “land” to get a picture, sharks for example. Size estimates without pictures for such entries in the Monthly Tournaments will be allowed.

🎣 Measure fish from nose to pinched tail to the nearest half inch. Estimates of large Tarpon weights in pounds are acceptable when accompanied by a clear photograph of the fish. Smaller Tarpon (40" and under) should be measured and reported in inches. In accordance with Florida law, Tarpon over 40" must not be removed from the water.

🎣 All entries should be sent by email to bfftournaments@flyfishingnaples.com as soon after the catch as possible with "Tournament Entry" in the subject line.

Please include the following:

Species:

Measured size:

Your name:

Fly:

Fly color:

Area where caught:

Place where caught:

Guide or not:

Final deadline for entries is as soon after the end of the month as possible.

🎣 Professional fishing guides are not eligible to enter the tournament as anglers.

🎣 All photos submitted become the property of BFF and may be used to promote the club, displayed at club meetings, on the BFF Web Site, in the BFF Fly Lines newsletter and/or on the club’s social media platforms.

🎣 Monthly winners will be announced at the following BFF General Meeting.

🎣 Annual Tournament Snook, Redfish & Tarpon Divisions winners and Top Angler of the Season Winner will be announced in the June Issue of BFF Fly Lines.
