Goodland/Marco Island Area

Join us prior to this year‘s BFF banquet as we hold the first BFF casting games competition. Modeled after Joe Mahler‘s SW Florida Casting Games, our club tournament will consist of two divisions. One division will be for casting instructors and previous casting games winners. The other category will consist of all other competitors from our club. Prizes in each category will be a $150 gift certificate to 239 Flies for the winner and a $50 gift certificate for 2nd place. Please sign up prior to this event so that we can appropriately plan for this activity. Hosted by Joe Mahler.

Ask any guide, accuracy trumps distance in fly fishing. A great class to pick pointers up so that you put your fly where it needs to be. Stick around after class as Ralph P. leads us in a discussion about fly fishing options in SW Florida where you don‘t need a boat (or maybe your boat is in the shop and you just gotta go fishing!)

Flies for fishing SWFL from the beach to the backcountry. During this session, fellow member Ben Machielse will demonstrate how to tie his deer hair mouse. A great pattern for fresh water fishing.

Learn what‘s really important while casting. What has to happen to make a successful cast and what you can do that really becomes your style. Stick around afterwards as we have a discussion on how to pick your next saltwater rod and reel.
